The Internet Index is an ever-growing collection of websites.
Founded on the idea that the web can be a tool of care, instead of control, we look for curious spaces online.
With this project, our aim is to find websites that promote learning and attention. Rather than relying on data-driving algorithms that keep confirming our world-views.
Where can we go to find knowledge and empathy online?
Our Index divides itself into two mains themes: knowledge and empathy. Inside each category, you can find websites with a broad range of topics. From climate emergency to gentle architecture, from feminist history to sound data. Our aim is to present a selection of links where information, not consumption, is at the heart of the web.
Being an open and collaborative project, we invite you to submit as many websites as you wish. Web surfing can be a creative exercise to stimulate the mind and a good reminder of how vast the Internet is.
We update the Index once a month. When we do it, we also share the new entries in our monthly newsletter. If you are looking for bite-sized information on our web walks, follow us on Instagram.
The Internet Index is a curatorial project by Inês Catarina Pinto and Bárbara Nogueira for Nevoazul.
1. All websites submitted to the archive should promote knowledge or empathy. We are interested in building an inventory of links that appeal to curiosity and expand the concept of the web as a space of knowledge and care.
2. We favor websites that value research and the classification of information in a temporal, chronological or thematic way. Perspective and context are crucial.
3. Aesthetics, usability and content are equally analysed. Browsing the Archive shoud be as pleasing to the eye as it is to the mind.
4. The content of the Archive's websites should not be exclusive in language or approach. Websites should be inviting and accessible to a wide range of people.
5. Websites with text or images promoting hate speech, sexism, racism, misinformation or illegal content will not be considered.
